How long will a Bare Home mattress last?  What are some of the types of tests you perform on your mattresses to show longevity?

Industry recommendations are to replace your mattress every 8-10 years.  We designed a product to last, that’s why we offer a 10 year limited warranty.

We do lifecycle testing between 100,000 to 125,000 cycles which represents approximately ten years worth of normal, daily use.  Additionally, we ensure that all our mattresses are compliant with appropriate federal and state regulations.

Is there a break-in period for my Bare Home Mattress?

Although it is common for people to take about one week to adjust to their new mattress, it may sometimes take up to 30 days for your body to recalibrate to a new foam mattress.  That’s why we ask consumers to try our mattress for at least 30 days before contacting us in relation to any comfort related issues.  We also offer our Good Dreams 100 Night Trial.

How can I protect my new mattress?

  • We strongly recommend a mattress protector with every purchase to maximize the lifespan of your mattress.  It’s a big help to protect your mattress from stains, spills and dust mites and the best way to make sure your warranty stays active. You can find one here (Mattress Pads & Protectors)
  • Additionally, some people like adding a mattress pad to their bed.  If you are looking for a softer sleeping experience, we suggest a thicker mattress pad such as our (Reversible Mattress Pad).  If you like a firmer experience, we suggest this mattress pad (Waterproof Mattress Protector/Pad). Mattress pads and protectors are removable for easy washing and work well to help keep your mattress looking new.

Why do I need a mattress protector?

We strongly recommend a mattress protector with every purchase to maximize the lifespan of your mattress. The protector may be removed and laundered from time to time.  It’s a big help to protect your mattress from stains, spills and dust mites and the best way to make sure your warranty stays active. You can find a great mattress protector here (Bare Home Protectors)

Can I buy a replacement mattress cover?  Can I change the cover of my mattress?

At this time, we do not sell replacement covers because removing the mattress cover will void your warranty.  Please contact our Customer Care Team to see which options might help you.

The Bare Home Mattress cover is not intended to be removed and doing so will void all warranties. Keeping the cover intact will help protect the integrity of the mattress so that you may enjoy great nights sleep for years to come. We strongly advise the use of a mattress protector.  We have several options available for purchase on Bare Home.com  (Mattress Pads & Protectors) which may be removed and laundered from time to time.

What’s the difference between a mattress pad, mattress protector and a mattress topper?

Each of these have a slightly different function.  A mattress protector will help protect against damage from moisture and stains which will help maintain your warranty (Warranty Information).  A mattress pad with a thicker layer of down alternative foam like this one, (Cotton Top Mattress Pad),  is a great way to add a bit of softness to your bed and can provide a slightly softer feel if you prefer a less firm sleeping surface.  If you are looking for a more breathable layer that helps keep the more firm feel of your mattress but that you can remove to wash regularly, you might like this mattress pad (Cotton Terry Mattress Protector).  Both mattress pads and protectors are removable for easy washing and work well to help keep your mattress looking new.

Do I need to flip my Bare Home Mattress?

Nope.  The mattress will adjust slightly to your unique body type over time and help provide a personalized support system.  This is a key benefit unique to foam mattresses and is a differentiating feature from traditional inner spring mattresses

Could I use an adjustable bed base with the Bare Home Mattress?

Absolutely!  Many people find an adjustable base to significantly enhance their sleeping experience.

Is memory foam good for couples?  Will the Bare Home mattress be good for mixed size couples?

Absolutely! The motion isolation design of the Bare Home Mattress provides pressure relief independently for each partner. Memory foam's visco elastic properties help to minimize motion transfer, making it an ideal choice for couples as movements are less likely to disturb one another during sleep.  And Bare Home’s mattress has twice the amount of visco elastic memory foam as other similar products making it a great choice for couples.  Try it with our Good Dreams 100 Night Trial.

How much weight will the mattress support?

In order to preserve the medium firm feel of the mattress, we recommend the mattress is best suited for couples weighing 600 pounds combined or 300 pounds individually. However, if you prefer a more firm feel to your mattress, a combined weight of the couple up to 800 pounds for queen and king sized mattresses would be fine. Please ensure that what you are using under the mattress is rated for the collective weight of the mattress combined with that of all the sleepers.

How long does it take for my new Bare Home mattress to expand?

Your new mattress will expand dramatically as soon as you remove the plastic protection layer.

Your new mattress should fully expand within 12-48 hours but please be aware that this could take as long as 72 hours to expand to its intended size.  This is because we need to allow air back into the foam layers which have been compressed and extracted during the packaging process.

Can I sleep on my new mattress right away?

Please feel free to enjoy your new mattress as soon as you wish after unwrapping it because sleeping on it right away will not harm the mattress recovery.  It may take up to 72 hours to fully expand, however most of the recovery should occur in the first 12-48 hours.  Sleeping on your new mattress during the reinflation period should not have a dramatic effect on its performance.

How long will it take to adjust to my new Bare Home mattress?

We encourage you to sleep on the mattress for at least 30 days. If something still isn’t quite right after 30 days, we’d love to work with you on some adjustments that might make your Bare Home mattress a perfect fit.  We also offer our Good Dreams 100 Night Trial so you can be just as sure as we are that this mattress is going to bring you a great night’s sleep.

Is your foam CertiPUR-US® certified?

Yes, all Bare Home mattresses are made only with CertiPUR-US certified foam. You can be confident that the flexible polyurethane foam inside meets CertiPUR-US® standards for content, emissions, durability.  All of the foam used in our mattresses is CertiPUR-US certified, which means they are made without ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead, and other heavy metals, formaldehyde, and prohibited phthalates as regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. CertiPUR-US® is an independent third party organization that analyzes, tests and certifies foam in consumer products by accredited testing laboratories.  For more information, check out the CertiPUR-US® website: certipur.us.

If my mattress has a slight odor, how long will it last?

In the world of mattresses, it is common that brand new mattresses could emit an odor. This is a normal occurrence, especially with foam mattresses. It can take a few days for the smell to dissipate completely. Do not use air-freshener sprays on the mattress as they could saturate the fabric and cause it to shrink or stain the fabric.

What is the Mattress Recycling Fee?

An additional state mandated fee will be added for orders shipping to states with legal criteria requiring Mattress Recycling including California, Rhode Island, Oregon, and Connecticut. These states have specific laws for recycling.  Please note that removal of your existing items is at the discretion of the service provider, and may not be available in some areas due to safety restrictions.

Where does Bare Home Ship their mattresses from?  When should I expect to see my Bare Home Mattress on my doorstep?

How long does a memory foam mattress last?

Bare Home mattresses should last 10 - 15 years with normal use.  We offer a 10 Year Limited Warranty on our mattresses and a Good Dreams 100 Night Trial to help you rest easy that you’ve made a great choice to buy a Bare Home mattress.  Like everything, if treated with care, it will help extend the life of your mattress.

What is the difference between memory foam and foam mattress?

Memory foam provides more pressure relief than standard foam.  Pressure relief is often reported through a reduction of aches and pains particularly in your joints and back.

Are memory foam mattresses safe to sleep on?  What about for infants?

Bare Home mattresses comply with regulatory safety standards.  Do not place infants on any memory foam mattresses.  For safe sleep, infants require a firm mattress to support their developing spine and to reduce the risk of suffocation.  Instead, opt for a crib mattress specifically designed for infants that will be firm and meet safety standards

Is memory foam good for back pain?

Many people with back pain have reported finding some relief after sleeping upon a visco elastic memory foam mattress. These mattresses can provide pressure relief to reduce pressure points and ease back pain. Bare Home’s mattress provides double the pressure relieving materials of many other mattresses of similar price point, making it an excellent choice.  With our Good Dreams 100 Night Trial, you can find out how great you’ll feel in the morning with a new mattress.

Does the Bare Home Mattress contain any latex? Memory foam vs latex mattress - which is better?

No. The Bare Home mattress does not contain latex.

In general, visco elastic memory foam provides a measure of pressure relief which latex doesn't and with double the amount of memory foam of other similar mattresses, why not give the Bare Home mattress a try?  With our Good Dreams 100 night trial, you can rest easy knowing you’re making a great choice for a great night’s sleep.

How long for a memory foam mattress to expand?

Your new Bare Home mattress will expand dramatically as soon as you remove the plastic protection layer.  Your new mattress should fully expand within 12-24 hours but please be aware that this could take as long as 72 hours to expand to its intended size.  This is because we need to allow air back into the foam layers which have been crushed and extracted during the packaging process.  Please watch our unboxing video for more information.

What is the memory foam mattress break in period?

Although it is common for people to take about one week to adjust to their new mattress, it may sometimes take up to 30 days for your body to recalibrate to a new foam mattress.  That’s why we at Bare Home ask consumers to try our mattress for at least 30 days before contacting us in relation to any comfort related issues.  We also offer our Good Dreams 100 Night Trial.

Can I remove the tags from my mattress?

The mattress tags are important to all warranty claims. The purpose of the tags is to identify the product, manufacturer, warranty time frame and manufacture date. Without having the law tag in your possession we cannot honor a warranty submission as the product information needed cannot be validated.

When to replace a memory foam mattress?

When your mattress is no longer providing the same level of original support, it’s time to consider a better night’s sleep.  Perhaps you’re achy and exhausted or perhaps you just can’t get comfortable, then it’s a good idea to consider a new mattress.  Industry standards for replacing mattresses are every 8-10 years, but sometimes simply finding the right mattress can make all the difference to your sleep.  We at Bare Home are committed to helping you have a great night’s sleep and want you to try our mattress with our Good Dreams 100 Night Trial.  We have twice the amount of pressure relieving material as many other mattresses of a similar price and think you’ll notice the difference in how you feel when you wake up.

I’m moving, can I fold my mattress?

It is not recommended to fold your mattress to move.  To keep your mattress safe and clean during transport, we suggest using a mattress moving bag which you can find online.

Should I put my mattress on the floor?

It is crucial to the daily performance and overall longevity of a mattress to have adequate support. We recommend any foundation, base, platform furniture or adjustable frame or a similar product that offers a flat, firm, closely spaced surface to place the mattress on. We do not recommend placing your mattress on the floor, plastic base, or any home-made foundation.

What kind of base is best for a mattress?

The best base for your mattress varies depending on the type of mattress you have. Memory foam and hybrid mattresses usually need a solid or narrow-slatted base for even support—think platform beds, foundations, or adjustable bases.

If you’ve got an innerspring mattress, you can get away with a basic bed frame and box spring combo. The key is to make sure your base provides enough support to prevent sagging and gives your mattress the lift it needs for maximum comfort and durability.

What is the difference between a bed frame and a bed base?  Can you put any mattress on a bed base?

A bed frame is just that—an outer frame your mattress rests on. It usually comes with legs and sometimes slats or crossbars, but its more open nature typically isn’t sturdy enough for heavy foam or hybrid mattresses without additional support.
A bed base, on the other hand, has a solid or slatted surface designed to give your mattress the support it needs. In other words, all bed bases are bed frames, but not all bed frames are true bed bases.

A platform bed base or mattress foundation will support any type of mattress, including latex, memory foam, hybrid, and traditional innerspring. But not all mattresses are compatible with an adjustable bed base. An adjustable bed will work well with memory foam and some hybrid mattresses, but not innerspring mattresses.

What can you tell me about mattress return requests?

The Bare Home Mattress Return Request for an opened mattress can be made no earlier than 30 days after delivery and no later than 101 days after delivery. Return Requests for unopened mattresses can be made immediately after delivery. Mattresses that have not been opened within 30 days of delivery are considered misused and are ineligible for returns and warranty claims.

For a Bare Home Mattress Return Request to be approved, mattresses must be in a sanitary condition where we can donate them, with no rips, stains, signs of wear and tear, etc. To facilitate the donation of returned mattresses, we work with Donation Partners who will arrive on-site (as scheduled with the customer) to assess the condition of the mattress, determine eligibility for donation, and, if eligible, retrieve the returned mattress for donation. Our Donation Partners maintain the right of refusal to accept mattresses that are determined to be ineligible for donation; all decisions regarding donation eligibility are made Solely at the discretion of our Donation Partners and are final.

For a Mattress Return Request to be approved, mattresses must have been used only for their original intended purpose and have been supported by the use of a proper base, frame, or foundation. Environmental damage (such as mold) due to misuse of the mattress or lack of proper base, frame, or foundation support beneath it voids Mattress Return Request eligibility.

Are there any promotions available on your Bare Home mattresses?

We do offer promotional offers from time to time, and the terms of the offer will be listed with the promotion code and may be applied during checkout. Only one promotion code or sale can be used at a time. Please note that unless otherwise stated, some promotion codes will be specified for mattresses, and other promotion codes for other products in our portfolio.  It is unlikely that a single promotion code will apply to both mattresses and other products with the same promotional offer.
