Job Summary:
As a Senior Accountant at our ecommerce retail company, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing various financial aspects of the organization. This pivotal role involves maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial data, preparing reports, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory standards. The Senior Accountant will work closely with cross-functional teams to support the company's financial objectives and growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Analyze financial data and provide insightful reports to management, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Conduct variance analysis to explain budget vs. actual performance.
General Accounting:
Manage the general ledger and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and accruals.
Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing explanations for significant variances.
Tax Compliance:
Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations, including the preparation and filing of tax returns.
Assist with sales tax, VAT, and other tax-related matters.
Financial Operations:
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
Review and approve vendor invoices and expense reports.
Monitor and manage cash flow to support working capital needs.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
Work with CFO to implement best practices to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of financial operations.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA, CMA or MBA designation is preferred.
Must have at least five years of general ledger accounting experience that includes analysis and creation of complex journal entries.
Experience calculating and establishing reserves.
Experience with accounting for fixed assets and capital leases.
Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar financial management role, preferably within the retail or ecommerce industry.
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards.
Proficiency in financial analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.
Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency with Excel is a must.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to identify process improvements.
Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance procedures is advantageous.

Salary: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
